Manifest Destiny - The U.S. Empires wants to expand again. Why?

Since the founding of this country, we have continually expanded, with the last significant expansion being Hawaii in 1959. This is what empires do; they grow. Now, however, China is quickly catching up, and when we measure economic output in more concrete terms, China's economy has surpassed ours. China produces twice as many automobiles as the U.S., sells more phones, and is steadily emerging as a global leader in technology.

The United States cannot accept being second best. Why? Because many White Americans have long held a belief, religious in nature, that they are somehow chosen by God -> much like their Zionist counterparts in Israel. They believe they are destined to reshape the world and spread democracy. As a result, they cannot tolerate a non-democratic China, or any other country, outperforming the U.S.

This is why many of us believe that World War III is inevitable: we have seen empires like the U.S. repeatedly refuse to abandon their imperialistic ambitions, much like Nazi Germany during World War II and the UK during World War I. While the UK technically won in WWI, it was eventually dethroned as a Superpower. If you study both World Wars and Hitler's ideology, it’s clear that World War II was simply a continuation of World War I, primarily because of the Treaty of Versailles, which forced Germany to pay reparations for a War they didn't start. WWI began after Germany's economic power surpassed that of the UK.

Sounds about right.

But rule number one. It is only imperialism when nations on the enemies list do it.

Half the user base here twist themselves in mental gymnastics to justify American and EU imperialism. Because in their minds that doesn't count.

Even among those that claim to be "anti imperialist."
