Perhaps more extremism would help. It transformed Afghanistan, works well in Russia, China and Saudi Arabia and remember how the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany were full of happy people - according to their strong leaders. Of course expressing dissenting opinions is annoying and confusing, but we can always lock those people up.

@Roundandroundwego There are so many varying results of all systems. It's nuanced. Some things I like - freedom to express myself, liberal education, generally comfortable lifestyle, more opportunities for a wider range of people - other things are unpleasant - divisiveness, big corporations and billionaires running amok as deregulation under moderate policies relaxes. I'm sure we could both think of thing.
I very much agree that setting up binary opposites (as I did to make a rhetorical point) is not helpful. But Hey! We've got a dialogue going, which is great.
