Keith Olbermann understated things when he described Donald Trump as being "not well". I'm convinced he has a Narcissistic Personality Disorder and is completely amoral.
RootinTootinHighFalutin · 36-40, F
I agree. However, I believe Olbermann may be insinuating something else. I think Trump may be losing his grip on reality. Age related? Who knows. But, he's not well.
abstractmuse90 · 31-35, F
Trump is a one of those extreme Geminis that is constantly told he is great at things even though it's the power that gets him there.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@RootinTootinHighFalutin: It could be argued that he lost whatever grip he had on reality a long time ago. He believes what he wants to believe, even if there's no factual basis to support it, and he dismisses what he doesn't want to believe, no matter how much evidence there is that it's true.
abstractmuse90 · 31-35, F
He doesn't want to believe that Putin had some influence on him becoming president.
RootinTootinHighFalutin · 36-40, F
@Rutterman: He's never been a genius. Hell, he's not even smart. Maybe average. Below average most likely. Regardless, his speaking skills have changed over the years. He's unable to speak in more complex sentences as he did in the 80's and 90's. I've watched older interviews and it's interesting how much he has deteriorated.
RootinTootinHighFalutin · 36-40, F
@abstractmuse90: Deep down, he knows it.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@RootinTootinHighFalutin: Actually, he's a brilliant con man that managed to get himself elected president. What's wrong with him isn't a lack of intelligence. It's his willful ignorance, his amorality, his authoritarian nature, and his narcissism. We can survive a dumb president (Reagan, G.W. Bush), but I'm not sure we can survive this.
RootinTootinHighFalutin · 36-40, F
@Rutterman: A narcissistic, amoral, bigoted, idiotic con man with early Alzheimer's. I think I covered everything. 😏
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@RootinTootinHighFalutin: I don't mean to be quarrelsome here, especially since you and I generally agree on things, but I think it's going too far to suggest that Trump is an idiot or that he has early Alzheimer's. It's also unnecessary as there is plenty about him to dislike and be concerned about. We'll simply have to agree to disagree on this.
RootinTootinHighFalutin · 36-40, F
@Rutterman: Oh I'm not disagreeing with you. It's just that his behavior is so bizarre. I'm not ruling anything out at this point. His actions are embarrassing, unseemly and dangerous.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@RootinTootinHighFalutin: Okay, fair enough.

@Rutterman: I partially agree on the Alzheimer's comment, but only because I don't think she meant it, in a disparaging way.
As it turns out, Reagan did suffer from Alzheimer's, but in Reagan's case, we (and the rest of the world) were insulated, by the "committee", and "Astrologers", who ran the White House (for better or worse).
As to George the 43rd, it turns out stupid could be very damaging. The US invasion of Iraq, the root cause of the refugee/ISIS crisis, we're dealing with today.
Back to the "health" comment. Trump tried to make that an issue. His supporters tried to make that an issue. He even made it an issue during the Presidential debates.
Is Trump healthy enough (mentally and physically) to be President? Some of the tweets, are, frankly, very disturbing. Early on, I thought of it as entertainment, but when he tweets that Arnold's ratings are low, because the "Trump" movement, does not like him, because he supported another Republican candidate for President, I no longer think it's "petty" behavior, and start thinking it's "Stalinist", which might explain why he's in love with Putin, the other Stalinist on the world scene. Trouble is, you cannot have more than one Stalin, and that is dangerous for the entire world.
For instance, in Syria, it's a near certainty, that Assad, another disciple of Stalinism, will remain in power, and it seem as if Trump is good with that.

@Northwest: I happen to think it’s a mistake to assert that Trump has early-stage Alzheimer's when there’s no real evidence that that’s the case. It doesn’t matter whether or not the comment was meant in a disparaging way. What matters is sticking with the things we either know or can make a case for, like Trump’s narcissism, and not making claims that can't be supported or substantiated.
Yes, Reagan had Alzheimer’s, which was announced sometime after he left the presidency. There’s also speculation that he was suffering from the condition much earlier than was acknowledged. I’m not sure what your point is in bringing this up. All I can say is that even though Reagan wasn’t my kind of president in terms of his policies, he wasn’t the disaster of a president I fear Donald Trump may be.
Where did I say stupid couldn’t be damaging? It can be, obviously. What I said is “we can survive a dumb president”. We made it through the Reagan years okay, in my opinion, and he was no genius. With Dubya, we did indeed get the Iraq War, which led to the spread of ISIS and the refugee crisis of today, although I would argue that this was the doing of Dick Cheney and the neocon intellectuals. Their policies are a proven failure, but they aren’t stupid people. In any case, we are certainly worse off because of the Bush-Cheney Administration, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be a whole lot worse off under Donald Trump, a man with some serious pathologies—pathologies that Reagan and Bush didn’t have.

@Rutterman: I was trying to tell you, that this is not what she's asserting. What he did though, is question Hillary's health, and alluded to a number of illnesses, that she "may" have. Breitbart followed with illustrations, conspiracy theories, "leaked" doctors reports (not true), and so forth and so on.
My point in bringing Reagan up, is that there is a precedent, for a President, who was not competent to run the country, but he did, and Trump, earlier today, tweeted a picture of himself, shaking hands with Reagan.
In Reagan's case, it was not speculation. His condition was well hidden, by his entourage. During his first Presidential campaign, he was talking to reporters, at his ranch, and he started making references to trees being a major cause of pollution, and then he started listing events, from his movies, as if they were fact. His entourage, covered it up and convinced the reporters, who noticed, not to publish.
If the President Elect allows himself to speculate, then he's legitimizing speculation. The statements he makes, call into question his mental competence. Or he could simply be a mega con man, who pulled the ultimate con on the entire world. I tend to believe the latter, but then again, we don't know anything about health.
Hillary released all her records. He did not. He pulled a con, on the suckers who believed him, and showed up to the Dr. Oz show, where he talked a good game, and at one point, did the big reveal, reality TV style, and pulled a sheet from his jacket pocket, and handed it to Dr. Oz, who, on queue, read his testosterone level, as the camera panned, to young women, jaws dropping, then back to a smirking Donald, and then to Dr. Oz, with a knowing smile on his face.
I feel sorry for anyone, who attempts to delve into Trump's pathologies. And yes, he could be the most dangerous president, in our modern history, to occupy the White House. If one believes, only 1/10th of what Romney said, it's really scary.
I can only hope that the GOP steps in, and controls him, because his followers think, that they have a "mandate" and that Trump's win, is unprecedented. Each going into mental gymnastics, trying to explain the different ways, this was unprecedented.
I still think Romney nailed it, it's unique in how successful his con job, on America, and the rest of the world, is.

@Northwest: I didn’t say Hillary made the assertion about Trump and Alzheimer's. I was referring to what RootinTootinHighFalutin said. She said he has early Alzheimer’s. I explained why I believe it’s a mistake to say that. End of discussion.
Yes, Hillary released all of her records and Trump did not. Yes, Trump, his supporters, and Breitbart made unfounded allegations about Hillary’s health, not to mention a lot of other defamatory claims that were never proven. What is the point in going on about it? I know all of this. If all you’re basically saying is that Hillary was candid about her health and Trump was not, that’s pretty well established and you’ll get no argument from me.
I already said Trump was a brilliant con man in my comments to RootinTootinHighFalutin. You don’t need to convince me of that.
In regard to Reagan, the speculation about his having Alzheimer's during his presidency occurred after he left office, when it was publicly revealed he had the condition. But when he was president, no one made that claim as far as I know. The incident regarding trees causing pollution and movie scenes mistaken for real-life events was widely reported, from what I understand, and not covered-up. He also thought ketchup was a vegetable and said a lot of other stupid stuff. None of this proves he had Alzheimer’s. People at the time thought he was dumb and maybe a little fuzzy-headed because he was old. I haven’t heard about anyone knowing or believing any different back then.

@Rutterman: Hey now!!! I was being facetious when I called Trump , "A narcissistic, amoral, bigoted, idiotic con man with early Alzheimer's." Only 99.9% of that is accurate.
I'm just saying I'm open to the possibility of early Alzheimer's, not declaring it.

@RootinTootinHighFalutin: Okay, we are in agreement. I am also willing to entertain the notion that Trump has early Alzheimer's, but not go so far as to assert that he actually has it. But when it comes to narcissistic personality disorder, I feel comfortable in pointing out that he meets most of the criteria for that.
