Trumps 2nd term in office will be like Married at first sight Australia

The audience watches MAFS with the knowledge that two people who have only just met at the alter won’t get along with each other despite being selected for compatibility by marriage guidance professionals.

On the show at least 12 couples are selected to live together for 8 weeks. What attracts audiences to the show is knowing that probably only one of the couples will last the 8 weeks with each other. The rest of the show is like watching numerous train wrecks happen in slow motion. You know they will happen, it’s just a matter of when….

Welcome to Trumps 2nd term in office.

I actually find it surprising that these MAFS marriages mostly don’t work out. In my sociology class in college the professor pointed out to the class that cultures with arranged marriages tend to experience much lower rates of divorce, and he explained that that’s because the person who is in the worst position to select a compatible mate for you is you. Your hormones make you “fall in love”, which blinds you to your partner’s bad habits (say lying, cheating, gambling, poor finances, etc.) that are likely to make a marriage fall apart. For that reason it’s a better plan to have someone who knows you well who can logically assess potential mates for you to arrange your marriage.

It wasn’t any equivalent of “marriage guidance professionals” who selected Trump for US President though, so we don’t even have the benefit of experts saying, “Well on paper this should work out beautifully.”
