And ... it's a toss up ...

I have a friend who tracks all the polls and all the polls of polls and the news behind the polls and the trends and ... well, you get the idea.

So, he sent me this a few minutes ago. He said that Pennsylvania is the only state that he can't really tip one way or the other.

What do you think of his forecasts? Where is he right and where is he wrong?

It's within the spectrum of possibilities. Reason why "vote blue no matter who" is a slogan.

@Elessar Do you use the same blue/red spectrum for your liberal/conservative spectrum?
Elessar · 31-35, M
@sarabee1995 Nope, actually I think using red for the conservative option is something uniquely American (idk if it's a residual of the platform switching happened in the 1860s? Or maybe just a different convention?)

Here red was originally taken by communists, now various shades of red are taken up by left of center parties (not all of them, e.g. the greens use green), whereas conservative ones tend to use different shades of blue. Mussolini originally was black, but neo-fascists are typically in denial of their position (like, they'll rally at Predappio to do the Roman salute at Mussolini's grave, but don't you dare to call them fascists 🤦🏻‍♂😅) and consequently their parties don't want to be represented in black (they're either a darker blue or at most brown)

Example:
(CDX stands for "centro-destra", which is the current right-wing coalition; CSX for "centro-sinistra" which stands for centre-left and is red)

At the European level it works more or less the same:

That said, people here typically recognize parties by the symbol more than the color. As those are the symbols that appear on the ballots too:

@Elessar Ahh, thank you for this. Very interesting. I so wish we could get some kind of multi-party system going here.

@sarabee1995 Careful not to find yourself with only one! 😬

@sarabee1995 And nonetheless in spite of hundreds of parties we still manage to have none (mainstream) that doesn't make you cringe 😅

This is obviously satire about our status quo.. but not too far off reality 😅

The very last part is real enough and recent enough that it still hurts watching it 😬
