Republicans don't understand Health Insurance.

We've been hearing for a decade about a Republican replacement for the ACA. Zero details all these years. Now Vance talks broadly about a plan - that talks about putting people into different risk categories. Well, how is that a "plan"? That is what we had before the ACA and the reason we have the ACA in the first place! Now he says that preexisting conditions will be covered. Well, that is how we wound up with the ACA...

Really what is going on is that the GOP is BUTTHURT that Obama was president when the law was signed and Obama's name is the nickname for the popular law. They would replace with the exact same thing if they could get Trump's name attached to it.

2017: "No one knew health care was so complicated."

<- Same guy that said he would remove and replace Obama care with a stroke of a pen on day 1.

But no worries... there is a "concept of a plan" now... 7 years later.

@Kwek00 Health care was only ever complicated by the Republican side to allow as many parties as possible to profit on the way through without scrutiny. Universal health care couldnt be simpler. Ask the countries that have it..😷

Universal health care couldnt be simpler.

I'm pretty sure the countries that have it, will tell you that it's really not that simpel.
The principles might be, but the organisation and how it puts pressure on the national balance create a lot of issues. There are diffrent ways to organise, and there are pros and cons to all of it. And at some point, you still have to make choices on what you cover and what not. I really don't think it's simple.

I'm just amazed Donald only came to that conclusion after he actually needed to do something.
But it's just simpler to cry and yell from the sidelines when you have 0 responsibility... and then when you actually have the responsibility it's pretty humiliating that you have to come on press conference and have to confess that one of your biggest talking points is poorly researched and understood.

@Kwek00 What makes it complex is the need to feed so many mouths at the trough as everything is in America. And thats what makes it so expensive as well.
Now all it takes is a small impost on federal income tax. And there is your universal funding for all citizens and residents..But of course, the insurance companiew would lose out. Their lobbyists wouldnt have campain money to spread around the Feds and the states.. And Big Health and big pharma would have to accept a little oversight. And we cant have than. I mean they are struggling to break even now.. Right?😷

@whowasthatmaskedman You also need to fund what ever construction you are going to put up. Now that our babyboomers are going on their pensions, it becomes a lot harder to fund the entire system over here. The entire construction, really needs expertise, that I don't have. I would never say that it's simpel though.

@Kwek00 Given the disfunctional chaos that is the current US federal and state beauracracies I see your point. On the other hand its a couple of centuries of doing business this way that has made it near impossible to get anything simple done. I bet the Chinese manage to cut through the red tape in weeks once they arrive..😷

@Kwek00 On that we agree. (thats a start) Most of the other issues are caused by underfunding. And more recently the massive burn out from the pandemic..😷
