"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction."

"Freedom is a fragile thing and it's never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again."
- California Gov. Ronald Reagan

inauguration speech (public ceremony)

The thing Americans dont get that most of the other Western Democracies do, is that while Capitalism is the best system invented so far, it does require that the government of the day represents the People to keep Capitalism in check and accountable for its actions and to do the things the people need done for their protection safety and equality. And Capitalism needs to contribute to allow that to happen or the system becomes unstable and both Capital and the people suffer.. Once Government takes the side of Capital against the people, Facism is just around the corner. Selecting a group to blame for the people troubles is one of the final steps in the process. Then freedoms can be suspended for "public safety". Any of this sounding familiar yet??😷

Capitalism without rules and regulations is dangerous.
Many checks and balances have been weakened or removed.

@Baremine The quilt of our democracy is woven with many socialist programs.

The original intent of the communist party was the workers party.

No truer words ...
Freedom to do what? Own the resources and employ the population? Chooses your friends? Choose where to live?
Without socialism your freedom kills my friends.

So very true.
