Trump is a registered Republican. Stop with the No True Scotsman garbage. He's promoting traditional Republican values. The Heritage Foundation, which is behind Project 2025, and the Federalist Society, which is responsible for most of Trump's judicial nominations, are conservative Republican think tanks.
You'd have a point if Trump was running as an independent, but he's not.
One obstacle to Project 2025 is his preference for sycophants over ideologues or competent people. The Heritage Foundation hacks being recruited now to staff the civil service in a future Trump administration have to meet the approval of Don Jr. and Eric.
Fact is what stands as the Republican party is no longer conservatives! In fact the Lincoln project is basically all that's left of true conservatives.

I said everyone is motivated by ideology. Everyone is. That is true. The only way one couldn’t be, would be if true objectivity exists. It doesn’t.
@Askeladd All I can tell you is that there is a group of delegates who feel that Trump is in too far with the "deep state," and want to replace him with General Flynn as the nominee. So it's not inconceivable that someone could have viewed Trump as a leftist and wanted to get rid of him for that reason.
I'm talking about political ideology. Other ideology doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the assassination. For example, if it turns out that Crooks was a Methodist, that doesn't mean he shot Trump for being a Presbyterian. Or if he was a video game enthusiast, or a bicyclist, or a Mozart fanatic. Those could be "ideologies" but irrelevant to why he tried to kill Trump.
