Should we franchise the right to vote to sixteen year old?

You can only vote on one answer.
The argument for it is that they will be twenty one by the time the governments term is finished, and the future belongs to them.

If the right to vote is given to octogenarians whose time is nearly past, so should those who hold the future.

This may encourage people to vote throughout their lives. OK, they may make some wrong decisions, lack maturity, but then again di t we all.

Yes. Too many boomers are enacting policy changes rather than getting with 2024. We don't need no more fossils unless they're decent ones. I don't doubt there are but not in politics. When kids are mature than adults these days, time to let them vote. No one knows their issues better than them that they're facing.

@SatanBurger FFS in the USA you can't even buy alcohol until you're 21.

@ArtieKat I think it's a bit of a false comparison because alcohol when you have it young changes the brain whereas a kid can be knowledgeable with every day current events by which they can make an informed decision.

Voting isn't the same thing as doing meth or drinking lol.

@SatanBurger Or cigarettes? You either trust young people or you don't. Let them buy guns at 18 though? Yeah, really sensible

@ArtieKat Most importantly some trump supporters and conservatives with the way they act towards gay people, other religions, immigrants and stuff, I've rarely seen kids actually act that way and if they do it's because it's learned behavior.

So it's arguable that if we're using kid's age as a reason that they shouldn't vote as they may still be immature and other things, well what does that make some of our politicians and their followers as adults?

When kids act better than adults then yes, give them a say.

This isn't to say that kids can't have varied political positions but on their own without any informed, they tend to make better decisions than adults

@ArtieKat False comparison and no it's not black and white as you say. You're using logical fallacies.
