I wish I could feel Optimistic about British politics tonight because Labour is on track for a landslide but more austerity is likely under labour.

The entire intellectual foundation of support for Austerity has been discredited, Reinhart and Rogoff was a spreadsheet error, other studies roundly refuted and there's no intellectual foundation supporting Austerity and yet desperate to be seen as fiscally responsible labour is likely to cut spending which will have disastrous consequences for the lives of British people, it doesn't work and it backfires horribly and there are mountains of evidence that cutting spending by the government is horrible for the economy, and it's much worse than people thought. The IMF had to admit it didn't think austerity would be a big deal, but it was far more harmful than they thought.
