How Does He Know?
Convicted Felon Donald Trump said that if he is elected to a second term, he will secure the release of Evan Gershkovich, an American journalist for The Wall Street Journal who has been detained in Russia since March of last year on false accusations of espionage.
“I will have him out very quickly, as soon as I take office, before I take office,” Convicted Felon Trump said Thursday during his debate with President Biden. “As soon as I win the election, I will have that reporter out,” he said.
Convicted Felon Trump, who didn’t refer to Gershkovich by name, called him a “good guy,” and alleged without evidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin is demanding “billions of dollars” for his release. Convicted Felon Trump also blamed President Biden for Gershkovich’s detainment, alleging that Putin “is laughing at this guy,” referring to Biden.
A couple of questions here:
1. If he can have him released, why is he going to allow a "good guy" to remain in a Russian jail. Is it for political purposes? But it's not like he claimed he has a solution for healthcare, but he wasn't going to reveal it, because President Biden will claim it as his own. It's not like anyone, other than MAGAs and Fox, believe he's not full of shit, and his plans are always coming in two weeks".
2. If it has to wait until he's President, it means he's already struck a deal with Putin, in violation of US law, and it means he already committed to some sort of deal with Putin, that includes Gershkovich s part of the package, and what is that package? And isn't it something the current state department should be involved in? Otherwise, it would certainly be cutting deals with foreign powers. Illegal.
But I guess he can pardon himself if he wins.
