Louisiana passes law that all schools and universities must display the Ten Commandments

because they are
the foundational documents of our state and national government".

So much for the Constitution. Let’s now also ignore the 2nd amendment and do something about banning firearms!

Unless this happens first

So much for the Constitution

now, cite us exactly where you think the Constitution forbids display of ten commandments on college campuses... 🤔

@wildbill83 The First Amendment
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@SW-User The first amendment allows that.
So what are you complaining about?
SW-User
@specman Well good luck upholding this law if you think so.
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@SW-User it does not ( it being the law ) does not suppress anything. If nothing else it may open the doors for something you agree with having to do with the first amendment.

@specman Can we post the Church of Satan Rules To Live By along side it?
How about The Atheists Creed? Can we display it beside it?

Freedom and equality, right?
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@JSul3 if there’s a law that we have to.
This ruling opens this up to that. The argument would have to be backed and worded right. Like this law. If at all possible.
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@JSul3 To be honest I don’t think they thought far enough ahead to realize they opened that doorway.
@wildbill83 The establishment clause of the first amendment forbids the government itself from endorsing religion of any kind, as stated by Thomas Jefferson where he wrote in 1802 that there is to be a separation of church and state.
@specman Freedom of religion ALSO allows separation FROM religion.
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@NativePortlander1970 what? Freedom of religion allows separation FROM religion?
@specman [media=https://youtu.be/vEyKJfB6wmI]
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@NativePortlander1970 I don’t understand how freedom of religion allows separation of from religion? Are you talking about a specific religion?
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@NativePortlander1970 I don’t have time to watch the video at this time.
@specman The anti establishment clause forbids governments from endorsing any one religion over the other, which means they cannot force it on us. This new law in Lousiana is unConstitutional because it is forcing judeochristian religion onto children in a state that has other religions as well, Hindu, Buddhist, etc.
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@NativePortlander1970 they got around the clause somehow

@NativePortlander1970 posting the 10 commandments isn't congress establishing a religion...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The context of the 1st Amendment is lost on so many people, that it no longer surprises me anymore.

It was never written to forbid religious worship in government as so many erroneously claim; it was designed to prevent government from adopting a state religion & perpetrating inquisitions & persecution against those who didn't believe what they told you to believe and how to believe it...

like the Church of England and Catholic Church have done for hundreds of years, both of which are oblivious to actual scripture and sound Christian doctrine; i.e. they used religion to exert power, not honor Christ...

The anglo-saxons, viking converts, etc. (the predecessors of England as a country) were in reality, no better than the pagans they claimed to abhor. They weren't the Godly people history makes them out to be.

Our forefathers realized all this of course, and wanted to ensure that history didn't repeat itself in the new world...

But to claim that government cannot adhere to any precepts of religion is pure lunacy, as the rules & laws that govern society, morality, ethics, etc. are all based on scripture. We have the Constitution because of the Bible, not in spite of it.

To completely oppose any religious society is to endorse complete anarchy & chaos.
