Louisiana passes law that all schools and universities must display the Ten Commandments

because they are
the foundational documents of our state and national government".

So much for the Constitution. Let’s now also ignore the 2nd amendment and do something about banning firearms!

Unless this happens first

Ok. Let's all now pretend to be outraged so we can slam conservatives and make it out like seeing the ten commandments would make us melt the the witch in the Wizard of Oz.

@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa well if ignoring the constitution is fine if in line with your beliefs then knock yourself out
Daviszabecki · 56-60, M
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa as a consequence I guess you’d be fine with some parts from the Quran in every class room as well?
@SW-User You say that as if the constitution hasn't already been ignored for years. Explain how what happened during covid was constitutional.
@Daviszabecki I'm sure that's already happening in certain parts of this country.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa I can't wait till your kids have to listen too the call to pray from a muslim priest at their schools every day.
Can't wait.
Daviszabecki · 56-60, M
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa well, that wasn’t my question, right? I’m wondering whether you’re ok with it?
@Kwek00 I live in a very rural area so you will be waiting for a while.
@Daviszabecki No I wouldn't. That is why I live in North East Pennsylvania and not in Dearborn Michigan or Kabul Afghanistan.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa Is that your way of telling me, that you are unable to deal with the consequences of your believes. It's like that: "I'm sure that's already happening in certain parts of this country.", which is just as hollow as the "I'm living in a very rural area"-remark.
@Kwek00 If the good people of Louisiana are OK with having the ten commandments in their schools I say let them have it. Other than that it's not really any of my concern since I'm in Pennsylvania.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa What about the good people in Louisiana, that are not okay with it? Because they are not christians. Just like you wouldn't be okay with your kids listening to the call of prayer in the morning, because you don't identify as Christian?

One of the big reasons governement and religion shouldn't mix, is because the governement represents people that are either non-religious or have another religious background.
@Kwek00 The people who are not okay with this will do what they always do. They will whine and cry until what THEY want is forced on to everyone. The same people who have an issue with hearing Merry Christmas.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa In this conversation, it's your side that is forcing things on people. It's also the side that wants their convictions to be incapsulated into the federal school system, that has literally been whining and crying how they are being forced to be neutral.

Just want to make that clear, before you become to delusional about that part.

@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa Christianity is dying and this is a last ditch attempt to control the minds of impressionable youth.

And people claim that only the Dems use propaganda 😂
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa No one has ever had a problem with saying "Merry Christmas". Unless, of course, it's said in June. But seriously, this so called "war on christmas" was only ever a figment of the imagination of the right wing.
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa, engaging in the purest form of WHATABOUTISM, asks
Explain how what happened during covid was constitutional.
In 1905, Jacobson v Massachusetts, the US Supreme Court upheld the Cambridge, Mass, Board of Health's authority to require vaccination against smallpox during a smallpox epidemic.

It IS constitutional, in fact it's been settled law now for well over 100 years.

Now can we return to the subject at hand – the unconstitutionality of a state officially putting one religion above others?
@autumngirl27 My state job has been discouraging people from saying Merry Christmas. Don't tell me what I see with my own eyes and hear with my own ears isn't happening.
@ElwoodBlues Biden has been ignoring the constitution his whole presidency. People on the left only care about the constitution when it suits them.

@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa Cite some examples.
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa Citation ? And I mean unbiased citation.
@JSul3 His student loan sceme and his trampling of religious rights are a couple examples. As well as him and his race based college admission regime.
JSul3 · 70-79
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa Scheme?
It is called Executive Orders....you know, like Trump banning bump stocks.

When Congress refuses to govern, the Executive Branch can force issues via EOs.
EOs can be challenged in court.
Nothing new.
@SW-User Both sides indoctrinate their beliefs, and it's ALL disgusting.
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa Cites these examples:
His student loan sceme and his trampling of religious rights are a couple examples.
Regarding student loans, Biden is following guidlines passed by Congress and signed into law by George W. Bush in 2007. It's called the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Nothing unconstitutional about that law. You should really look it up some time!!

Explain what you mean by "trampling religious rights." Are you referring to the rights of members of the Satanic Temple? Or rights of the Pastafarian followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Please explain exactly what rights were trampled.
@strictdadhusbandanduncleinpa

OK, I've got an example for you: it would be totally unconstitutional for government to crucify any person. That would run afoul of the "cruel and unusual punishment" clause.

Yeah, if witnesses were "literally crucified" by a judge, that would be absolutely unconstitutional. However, Trump was literally lying about that.
