The 'Dirty tricks' campaigners in the forthcoming UK election are out in force

Just got in from work and there's a campaign leaflet on the mat.

It features something of a rant from what you assume to be 'a prospective candidate' letting you know just what is wrong with the country and how this 'candidate will challenge it and 'make good'.

It features two small photos of (presumably) this candidate with groups of 'Nurses and Doctors', the other photo is with 'elderly folk'. Both about the size of a postage stamp.

On further research you discover this is actually the sitting Conservative MP.

Yet nowhere in this leaflet are the words Conservative; Conservative central office; Prime Minister......

It's obviously a cynical attempt to get folk to associate a name with 'his ideals'

Be warned folks. They're out there trying to steal your vote.

Am I missing something, or doesn't our Democracy function on electing Members of Parliament in our own locality, not a presidential-style Prime Minister or even a political party?

@ArtieKat UK politics. You're missing something.

The Conservative Party has destroyed the country.
It elected one leader (Boris Johnson) who asked the country to trust in the idea of leaving the EU.
And then behaved so irresponsibly he needed removing from office.

The membership of that same party elected a leader (Liz Truss) as Prime minister who then decided to screw up the economy even further with a budget that made no sense and brought the stock market to it's knees as a result.

And rather than call a vote of no confidence in the government, the Labour Party enabled the Conservatives to select Rishi Sunak as it's leader and subsequently Prime Minister.
Despite the fact he'd been screwing the country blind as Chancellor on previous occasions.
And during his tenure his party has lost seats in by elections maybe as protest votes maybe not.

But if current Conservatives looking to hang on to their seats start sending literature through doors espousing just their names and intentions (real or imagined) it shows a complete lack of anything approaching honesty.
Don't you think ?

@ArtieKat Which is what's really worrying about the election.

None of them can fix the problems we're in as a result of those decisions made, without fixing the economy first.

Now if we were....Italy; Germany; Netherlands; Poland....these countries build or create and produce things.
Sure, they have their troubles too.
But they have bargaining chips. We don't !

It really is a sorry state of affairs.
