NothanksLeon is 100% correct, Mandela was a convicted felon. He is also a dead terrorist.
His terrorism journey started when he joined the banned political party, the South African Communist party (SACP) secretly in the late 1950's while still a youth member of the African national congress(ANC) and Mandela created the MK (uMkhonto we Sizwe) miltary wing (terrorist cell) for the ANC in 1961, thanks to his buddies from the SACP, they had access to arms, bombs and military training from the USSR and China, for their MK gangsters to use in South Africa, as they needed.
The USSR and China were more than happy to help out, in exchange for the ability to have influence in South African politcs and have a chance at controlling a new potential fully communist nation.

The MK group went on to accomplish many terrorist operations for the ANC, such as bombing a shopping mall and killing civilians in 1985's "operation butterfly"

Mandela shared the nobel peace prize with FW de Klerk for helping end apartheid in 1993 and for avoiding an all out civil war. A year later the ANC took over South Africa as the ruling party, with Mandela as it's president. The ANC has ruled SA ever since.
30 years later we see the legacy of what a ruling political party run by a terrorist and his cronies can do to a country.
Is it any wonder that a terrorist run organisation has looted and held ransom the economy of a formally great nation for their own gain? and introduced policies such as : black economic empowerment and affirmative action and "tenderpreneurs" to strangle once healthy organisations, getting rid of and discouraging qualified non-blacks from contributing much needed skills and wisdom, and forcing them to leave SA for greener pastures.
The only miracle is that South Africa haven't reached Zimbabwe status yet.
