From the commentary I'd heard from former prosecutors, if he hadn't been a Biden with the high profile, prosecutors would most likely have either not prosecuted or come up with a real plea seal. Cases like this evidently are seldom brought UNLESS there are other more serious charges linked, like violent crimes, etc. But, he was found guilty, so he's stuck. Not weaponization, closer to celebrity hunting a la sending Martha Stewart to jail.

@ChipmunkErnie Similar to Trump hunting. Is that what you are saying?

@ChipmunkErnie Are you familiar with the plea deal that was originally struck for Hunter Biden? And what happened to it?

@SumKindaMunster Yes, been aware of it for months. A screw-up by whoever wrote it up.

@ChipmunkErnie So you recognize they did try to give him more typical treatment, it blew up because it apparently gave him blanket immunity to a lot of things...NOT something that a regular, not son of the US President would receive...
Essentially, they were caught trying to make this all go away, and when confronted, the only choice was to plead not guilty and go to trial....
Blame Hunter and his attorneys for that. Actions have consequences, and this situation should be recalled when people start going on about how he was treated unfairly.

@SumKindaMunster From the explanations I've heard and read, the original plea deal was fairly typical but the judge, in reading it, came up with some questions both sides thought were answered -- unfortunately, they disagree on what that answer was. Something about the defense believing the deal covered future charges, the prosecution thinking they could come up with later charges after the deal went into effect -- at least that'ss what the explanation seemed to be.

@ChipmunkErnie Yes, essentially Biden's lawyers worked some sort of immunity in there, and when exposed, it got shut down by the prosecution. Again, not a "typical" situation at all. What typical person would have such crafty and knowledgeable lawyers to be able to insert immunity into the agreement and not have the prosecution notice?

@SumKindaMunster Not the way i heard it, but whatever -- it's a moot point.
