The Republicans now refuse to accept the outcomes of trials and elections.

Unless they win, of course. The US will devolve into a one party state if Trump wins. Vote Biden! There is no third choice. There will never be another chance.

Democrats did the same thing in 2000 and 2016 when they lost the Presidential election.

Stacy Abrams refused to concede her loss.

Point being....its not just Republicans playing this game...

@SumKindaMunster Yes, there have been certain occurrences, and I don't think it was right what Abrams did. I distinguish symbolic votes or smaller outbursts to the broader movement of "Stop the Steal," what happened leading up to January 6, January 6 itself, and what is now accepted by most Republican candidates.

It is close to a litmus test to be a Republican to deny the results of the 2020 election. One can't be in favor with MAGA if one denies that Trump won in 2020. I don't see any such movement on the part of Democrats, or the "we'll see" statements from the VP contenders about the upcoming election and whether the results will be accepted.

@Bumbles So as a Democrat, it should make sense to think of it this way...the Republicans are the other team and they have special interests and causes that excite their base and get them excited. They pay lip service to these ideals as a way to generate interest in their campaigns and get people to sign up and donate...think how the Democrats pay lip service to their special interests like transgenderism..

Paying lip service to the 2020 election and making it sound like there are still questions is what the Republican base wants to hear. Since you aren't a Republican, and these causes are not your causes, they don't speak to you.

What you should do is practice empathy for the other side and recognize that the Republicans are speaking to their base, not you. It's similar to how Biden and the Democrats pay lip service to DEI ideals, or White supremacy...I think such things are disgusting and unconscionable, but these messages are not meant for me. They are meant to shore up Biden's voter base in November.

As an aside, I am not a Republican. I have never joined any political party and never will. My beliefs are a pastiche of progressive, conservative, and libertarian causes. I am an outsider, an introvert and very independent minded. I definitely don't go along with the crowd, and if the majority thinks its great, I am immediately suspicious.

@SumKindaMunster I guess I'm not that cynical. I think Trump has a feral instinct for populism and is ruthless and definitely incapable of shame or empathy. In any event, I appreciate your explaining your worldview.

@Bumbles Well give it some time. I think its the natural order as we get older to get more conservative and suspicious. Saw it in my grandparents, and starting to see it in my parents.

I'm not disputing your interpretation of Trump, but remember he is being portrayed in the WORST possible light at all times, by the press. To put it mildly, it might be slightly biased. Keep that in mind as this election season goes along
