@Picklebobble2 I thought I might be one of em! I've just checked the UKGOV website and thankfully even expired photo ID is acceptable so long as the picture looks like you.

I'm suddenly very glad I'm too lazy to get haircuts and as a result still look enough like my expired passport to hopefully be able to use it...
