@BohemianBabe First, our vaccination programs were better supported and free (for the most part) from anti vax BS. And even now some wear masks and take other precautions..Since we are older and my wife relies on me I cant afford for either of us to get it, So I'm careful and get boosters regular and I havent died fron the vaccine yet..😷

@DogMan Someone should sit you down on a cumfy cushion and explain to you in small words how a vaccine works. It isnt a cure...It simply alerts your own immune system to the threat, so that your system recognises it and prepares defences. So in a healthy immune system you either fight it off with knowing you had it by repelling the invaders. Or you get a milder, survivable case.😷

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have concluded that lockdowns have done little to reduce COVID deaths but have had “devastating effects” on economies and numerous social ills.

The study, titled “A Literature Review and Meta-Analysis of the Effects of Lockdowns on COVID-19 Mortality,” said lockdowns in Europe and the U.S. reduced COVID-19 deaths by 0.2 percent.

Shelter-in-place orders were also ineffective, reducing COVID-19 mortality by 2.9%, the study said.

“We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality,” the researchers wrote in the report, issued Monday.

The study concluded that lockdowns “are ill-founded and should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument.”

“They have contributed to reducing economic activity, raising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence, and undermining liberal democracy,” the report said.

@DogMan It sould have, apart from a couple of plague filled cruise ships that landed and spread it through Sydney. ww delayed the first wave, before the Vaccine was developed. And while it went through places like old people homes and killed too many, it was kept from spreading widely. The point is that community acceptance of the lock downs saved lives. And community support for the vaccines and boosters is still doing it.
I guess we value Australian lives more than you value American ones..😷
