What happens when Governments raise taxes on big Corporations?

We know many people love to see Corporations pay higher taxes, but do those
same people see any benefit from it?

The higher the taxes the greater the incentive to move both production and ownership to another country. The higher the taxes the greater the incentive to make it cheaper and cheaper.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Heartlander Exactly. People that do not own businesses, do not understand business.

This is why business owners are always a target for the left, the left knows that most
successful business owners are not Democrats. So they try to destroy them with higher
taxes. They believe people should be happy paying more taxes, and never pass along
increased costs.

FYI, I have NEVER met a Democrat that was willing to give more of HIS money to
the government. They just want people that make more than them, to pay more.

I think they call it "Financial Equity" 🤣
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@DogMan The way that equity works for Democrats is that everyone gets a C+, except the students that study hardest. They get a D-.

@Heartlander yep, instead of raising people up, you knock others down,
to make it fair for the lazy, and unmotivated.

@Vin53 The fact is, ALL politicians, create the tax laws, and loop holes to get out of
those taxes. It is a bi-partisan issue.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Vin53 Corporations are forced to get bigger because of our tax laws. The greed of the government forces corporations to either disperse its profits in dividends or invest in growth, dividends on which stockholders have to pay income taxes. Heaven forbid that corporations get to sit on profits in anticipation of rainy days. Thanks to tax policies, corporations have to resort to the layoff of workers when they run into economic slumps.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Heartlander I thought that I would have to lay people off during the 2008 recession,
and Covid. Luckily I put my profits into capital, and used it to keep us going, and keep
everyone employed. During Covid I actually paid everyone for 40 hours, while reducing
their hours to 32.

@DogMan And Democrats insist on calling you heartless :)
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Heartlander yep, a heartless, evil business owner that profits from the work of
others. 😉 Believe it or not, I am not even the highest paid employee at my company.
A female project manager is, and she is well worth it.

I have always been told a business owner pays himself first. In the past 21 years,
I have always paid myself last. During hard times, I don't pay myself at all.

I have the most loyal, hardworking employees a person could ever have.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@DogMan Congratulations! Great that you were able to push profits to expenses and keep your staff attached. The yo-yo of having to fire and rehire to follow the ups and downs of business destroys the trust between employers and employees and undermines customer loyalties. So much better to have in-place employees when the up-surge comes.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Heartlander Luckily I worked for others into my 40's. I am able to treat my
employees like I always expected to be treated. There is something to be said
for working your way up, and not starting at the top.

@DogMan I once worked in the training department at a huge corporation that was somewhat seasonal, and as we were gearing up for the new training season, within one 8 hour workday, there were 4 distinct projection and reversal decisions of anticipated hiring and firing that affected 2,000+ people.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Heartlander Oh man, I'm glad I'm a small business.
@DogMan [quote]The fact is, ALL politicians, create the tax laws, and loop holes to get out of

True. But the Left wants to close those loopholes, the Right doesn't.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@BohemianBoo The left only wants to close the loop holes for SOME!

You know as well as I, that politicians are very conniving.
@DogMan Nope, we want to close all loopholes. And that's why billionaires overwhelmingly vote Republican.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@BohemianBoo 🤣🤣 You have a lot of trust in politicians don't you?
@DogMan Oh, not at all. That's one of the reasons I believe in democratic elections, checks and balances, and government transparency.

It's also why I consider Trumpism to be so dangerous. I don't think any one person should have dictatorial power. Even someone like AOC, who I like a lot, I wouldn't want her to become a dictator.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@BohemianBoo Just recently Joe bypassed congress, ignored the Supreme Court,
and gave billions in tax payer dollars, to his constituents in the form of paying off
student debt. That is the definition of a Dictator. Building a wall to secure the border
is not being a dictator.
@DogMan That's nice, but you know Biden isn't a dictator. We have an election coming up in which, unlike Trump, Biden will accept the results of. In an actual dictatorship, you can't just vote out the dictator.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@BohemianBoo I go by actions. What he did, a dictator would do. Is Trump still POTUS?
If he was a dictator, he would be, according to you.

And you wait and see what the left does if Trump wins in November. It will NOT be a peaceful transition.

@BohemianBoo So you are saying Trump "Might" do something like Biden did?

I doubt that congress would allow that.
@DogMan No, I'm saying Trump will try to become a dictator because he tried it once before, he's saying he's going to try again, and there is a plan in place to make it happen.

If Project 2025 happens, it won't matter what congress wants.
