What does it matter that he is a former heroin user? This is a slur intended to malign his character. The above video does not include the clarification he made about vaccines in the same podcast episode. He said the polio vaccine is effective, but not necessarily safe or worth it. Why do you think he is right wing?

What do you think of his policies? They are not superficial. He seems to have a deep and sincere interest in addressing the core of the problems in the US. How many people like him come along?

@badlands Kennedy needs no assistance in maligning his character. He does a perfectly good job doing that all on his own. He has been an anti-vaxxer for decades, spreading misinformation and disinformation far and wide. Most of the policies on his website are aspirational goals. I am for ending corporate corruption and having a clean environment and ending toxic pollution, but Kennedy has no more specific plan for implementing this at the federal level than I do.

Lots of shysters like Kennedy come along. Most of them don't run for president and are satisfied with fleecing others.

@windinhishair "He has been an anti-vaxxer for decades, spreading misinformation and disinformation far and wide."

I am aware of this accusation, or possible slur. The words misinformation and disinformation tend to be improperly used. He has questioned the safety of vaccines, which he is entitled to do.

"Most of the policies on his website are aspirational goals."

Come on, we could say that about any policy listed on a politician's website. At least there are some good aspirations there.

Why do you say he has no specific plan? He is very accomplished in environmental law, and he set up a global clean water company. You aren't giving him a chance. CNN says he is an "anti-vaxxer", and therefore he must be tossed in the trash.

The percentage of children with health problems in the US now is incorrect on his website; it is around 40%. That said, it is still a large number. How many leaders want to address this apparent health crisis in America?

RFK Jr. is apparently popular with young voters. His view on Israel is what I question the most. We don't have to love him, but cynically dismissing him isn't very fair.

@badlands RFK Jr. has absolutely no chance of becoming president. He is criticized for being an anti-vaxxer because he has gone way beyond just questioning vaccines and has told people they are dangerous, and not to get vaccinated. He is wrong, and his deliberate disinformation is helping add to the health problems of children that you suggest we pay more attention to.

RFK Jr. has no government experience. Remember the last time we tried that experiment? We ended up with an unmitigated disaster in Trump, who directly contributed to the deaths of 250,000 Americans by downplaying COVID to help his own re-election chances.

Kennedy selected a wholly unqualified vice president to run with him. That speaks to his lack of judgment on a very important issue.

He is a good environmental lawyer. He should stick to environmental law, where he could have a positive impact on the environment.

@windinhishair RFK Jr. is appealing to people, and he has the power to take votes from the Democrats. How will it look for Biden if he does that? For a man who has gone independent, he is still doing well.

You say he is wrong about vaccines; this is your opinion. Many vaccines appear to prevent the diseases or symptoms they are intended to prevent. RFK Jr. has acknowledged this. He says that they may not be safe and could cause or help to cause other illnesses. What do you know about that?

What does government experience achieve? Are you looking to maintain the status quo? Why?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@badlands RFK Jr. appeals to people who are prone to believing in fake science and conspiracy theories. Those are people who are more likely to vote for Trump than Biden. The Trump campaign recognizes this and has begun attacking RFK Jr. since they see him as a threat.

I will follow the science of vaccines and the advice of people who are knowledgeable. RFK Jr. is not one of those people. He has done a great disservice in ignoring medical professionals and data. It is his opinion, but it is poorly informed and illustrates he is not ready to lead.

I don’t go to my auto mechanic for brain surgery, or to my baker for car repair. I wouldn’t go to someone to be president who cannot demonstrate any competency and whose wacky ideas could jeopardize public health. We just lost 250,000 more Americans to Covid due to the malfeasance of Trump as president. We don’t need another Ill-informed conspiracy theorist in the White House.
@badlands I agree, bringing up his past heroin use is irrelevant. It's almost as bad as bringing up a candidate's family member's drug use.
badlands · 22-25, F
@windinhishair You lost Americans to a highly infectious respiratory disease. It is unfortunate that this disease came about. Prior to it spreading across Wuhan and the rest of the world, several lab workers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology apparently became ill with a virus resembling Covid-19.

What does "follow the science" mean? People seem to say it without really thinking about it. I thought it had lost its appeal and that we had realized how profoundly stupid it is. There is a lot of science; there is a lot of everything. We live in a natural and unnatural world.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@badlands We would have lost fewer Americans to the virus had Trump not been president. His deliberate misinformation caused many Trump Cult members not to vaccinate, and at least 250,000 more died due to it than otherwise would have. Cultists continued to die at disproportionate rates long after Trump’s failed presidency, and many more have long Covid.
