The electoral mechanism is real enough. We actually cast votes to elect who we want. It's similar to giving power of attorney to your son to operate your bank account on your behalf for things you need. The problem is that you see your money depleted on expenses to house migrants in the city, and a host of miscellaneous items that have nothing to do with you.
