The 2024 presidential race is a fight for America's soul. Which side are you on?

White evangelicals on one side and black protestants on the other. Conservatives on the right and liberals on the left. Good vs evil.

I am on the side of the US Constitution, Bill of Rights and the citizens of America. Whichever candidate can and will protect our freedoms as outlined in the founding documents, stay out of the way of the economy, butt out of healthcare and ensure our allies and enemies alike respect us will earn my vote.

@SlaveEt let me know when you find that person!
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
@Handfull1
Indeed. However, so far the one closest to those criteria seems to be President Trump.

@SlaveEt Are you an evangelical Christian?

Not very many people have the financial resources to provide for their own healthcare. IMO, we in America are very fortunate that the government covers most of the cost of our heathcare, especially for older people with limited incomes. Besides, the health of population is a national security issue.

Not that it matters but nope, I am an atheist. This means I do not believe in any god, higher power, supreme being, etc. It does not mean I am an anti-theist or against or hateful of others' faith.

And if government and insurance companies did not artificially inflate the cost of healthcare and medications the average person would be able to afford their medical costs. Again, government needs to butt out of healthcare.

The person or organization paying the bill has final say. When it cones to my health and well being, I don't trust our government to have that power over me. The COVID scam proved to me, without a shadow of a doubt, my best interests are not what drives policy and decision making.

We all have different perspectives on everything although we are looking at the same thing.

@SlaveEt most could not afford their own health care even if prices were cut in half. Especially as one ages!
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Handfull1 This is why I advocate checking out at age 75.

According to the biblical fairytale, people are supposed to live for 120 years. Why do you want to cheat yourself of 45 years?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Diotrephes Cheat myself of what? Staying alive has no purpose.
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
@Handfull1
Why do you think prices would drop only by half?
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@sree251 are you telling me to in the near future or your plan since you’re advocating? 🤔🤔
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@SlaveEt it was a number. Do you really think trained staff will work for nothing? Science and research funding grows on trees? Not to mention money it takes for facilities and equipment. Have you ever owned a business?
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@sree251
Cheat myself of what? Staying alive has no purpose.
Sure it does. The carbon dioxide you exhale keeps plants alive.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Handfull1 It is something that I have been telling myself. Life has no purpose, and the longer we stay alive the greater the probability of something going wrong in the world or with the body.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@sree251 That’s incredibly sad. I hope you find purpose in some sort of life before it’s gone! None of us really know the future even if there is an afterlife. I personally hope there was a purpose!
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Handfull1
I personally hope there was a purpose!
If I have a purpose to exist, so does a tree or a bird. Being alive is fine but it is exposure to bodily disease, physical danger, and financial insecurity. So, I think it is no wise to push it too far. 75 is long enough.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@sree251 of course, all have purpose. My neighbor lived to 108. Stayed pretty healthy until the last year. She had a purpose if one took the time to listen. I miss her!
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Handfull1
My neighbor lived to 108.
Healthy until the last year? How did she die? In her sleep?
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@sree251 she did! And still feisty as hell up to the last couple months.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Handfull1 Up to the last couple of months? What happened? Was she bed-ridden towards the last few weeks?

It's a good thing to die while asleep. No pain.
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
@Handfull1
I have owned and do own my own business. And yes, I have even taken an accounting and business class or two😉
