Women in France rejoice over enshrined right to abortion

This week, women in France celebrated the newly enshrined right to abort their children.

The US was able to recognize that this right is not constitutional, and could only be if you rewrite the constitution. Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022, states have been able to decide their own abortion laws.

French president said: "we're sending a message to all women: your body belongs to you and no one can decide for you."

He added he "will not rest" until abortion is introduced to the EU's Charter of Fundamental Rights. In a speech during the ceremony to mark this now constitutional right, he declared this is "freedom, a fight made up of tears, tragedies and broken destinies."

Yes, there are many broken destinies. They are broken because they were taken by abortion.

The Eiffel Tower lit up with the words "#My bodyMychoice." Women in France believe that this is a "victory."

Victory for whom, I wonder?

A victory for ALL women in France. The US has taken a big step backwards with its outdated mindset and conservative approach.

@justanothername Why is it a "big step backwards" and "outdated" to allow states freedom?

@SW-User Because you are taking the right to decide away from women.

Undoing the decision of Roe v Wade is a huge step backwards.

It’s ridiculous that a women should have to go through thd legal process in order to get an abortion when her medical health could be at risk cause by the delays in the legal processes that have to happen rather than just booking in for an abortion after consulting her GP.

@justanothername She has the "right to decide" before she becomes pregnant, and that is what contraception is for. Do you think it is good that she is deciding after the pregnancy has already begun, after a body has started to grow?

@SW-User As expected you totally miss the point. Women get/need abortions for a whole load lb reasons. Some are medical, some are unwanted pregnancies. Condoms do fail.
The crux of the mater is that the decor have an abortion should be the woman’s choice. NOT the states legal decision.

@justanothername Condoms? She should be using contraception if she doesn't want a baby. We all know that condoms can fail.

The choice is what you do prior to getting pregnant. It is selfish and irresponsible to dispense with human life after that. Every woman on this planet knows that she can become pregnant, unless she finds out otherwise. Do you think they'd be so cavalier if it affected them in the way it affects the babies they abort? They use abortion to prevent pregnancy when the pregnancy they knew could happen, has happened. How stupid is that?

@justanothername Medical Health could be at risk no that's not an abortion. And abortion is the unnecessary termination of a child. If the woman has an atopic pregnancy it's called an atopic procedure. Whatever the procedure that was performed is referred to by the medical condition the woman had an abortion is separate from all of those and is the unnecessary termination of a pregnancy. Unnecessary meaning there are no medical conditions requiring this.

Actually, pregnancy is rare in humans as a species.

@Diotrephes Explain?

@SW-User So what do you say to the States and Religions that not only want to ban abortions but also want to ban birth control and contraceptive means? Are we simply raising brood mares or women? Don't get me wrong, I'm against women using abortion as a means of repetitive birth control but to deny them the choice over what happens to their bodies is slavery, might as well keep them chained up, barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen 🤨

@spjennifer Unfortunately that is the dream of the MAGA cultists.
