Excerpt: The main selling point—that it helps take us off our dependence on fossil fuels—is a myth. You need coal plants to charge your car. Second, these electric vehicles are laughably unreliable in inclement weather. You need to upgrade your power grid at your house to accommodate the charging station, all of which adds tens of thousands to your clean energy purchase.

Electric vehicles release more toxic particles into the atmosphere and are worse for the environment than their gas-powered counterparts, according to a resurfaced study

Because EVs are on average 30% heavier, brakes and tires on the battery-powered cars wear out faster than on standard cars.

@graphite As a Tesla owner I will confirm the tires wear out faster, because EVERYBODY loves to zip around in Ludicrous Mode, but, after thirty thousand miles I have used my breaks perhaps two dozen times. If the breaks develop a problem it is because of corrosion from lack of use.

Carbon-hydrogen bond per mile, electric vehicles are about five times as efficient as conventional ICE vehicles, and that is not counting those that can charge off of solar, wind, hydro, or nuclear generated electricity.

@IronHamster Nuclear generated electricity is NOT Green........
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Jimmy2016 Nuclear energy is CO2 free. If CO2 is an issue then logically Nuclear must be included as a solution, or there is no credibility to the CO2 argument.

@IronHamster What about the spent fuel rods with a half life of 1,000 years? Fission is NOT green........
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@Jimmy2016 What about them? We have concrete from the time of Jesus as Roman artifacts and salt mines that have not seen water in geographic spans of time.

Then don't live near a nuclear plant.

Move to where the ONLY electricity is wind or solar.

Wait!. I forgot. There is no such place in the world. Wind and solar only work because nearby there are fossil fuel plants as backup.

@Jimmy2016 yes it is. It does not release carbon emissions
