justanothername You are forgetting the first inhabitants of the American continent who started migrating over from Asia many thousands of years ago via the Bering sea and who have been living in America quite happily until Christoper Columbus first set foot in the New World. They were the first Native Americans.

Indigenous Indians did not become Americans until Congress granted them citizenship with the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924.
