@SW-User same. Everyone just becomes so bloodthirsty and vicious. Doesn't help it's the same 2 guys as last time. Both their supporters made 2020/21 hell.

When you've got nothing good to promise people for their vote all you're left with is what you can scare them with.
Trouble is there aren't the scary bad guys out there anymore (internationally at least) so if both parties intend to refer to imaginary threats from people/things that don't exist, it probably suggests extremes of candidate will be selected just so that parties can attract extremes of voters.
And of course maintain donations to some degree.
Expect poor choices in candidate.
Poorer still agenda once in office.
And low voter turnout to vote.
Same is happening everywhere
