Republicans have long ago given up on governing.

In my opinion, (only my opinion)
Democrats, especially President Biden, allowed Thousands of illegal crossings into our borders, and the possibilities of increased crime and even terrorists attacks within the United States is more credible than ever. Trump? If he's got that much control over the Republican party, then that's scary in itself.

@Montanaman There is significant discussion about why Biden can't just close the border by Executive Order. The problem is that many immigrants are claiming asylum, which triggers a set of laws that pertain to asylum seekers. Biden cannot unilaterally deal with this issue without changes in legislation, which is what the bipartisan Senate bill authored by Senators Lankford (R-OK) and Murphy (D-CT) took great pains to address. This bill could be passed this week if Republicans would stop opposing it under Trump's orders.

Crime is down nationally the past several years, as is foreign terrorism, with Biden as President, and given the border issues. The biggest threat to domestic security is currently home grown domestic terrorists who are largely white supremacists. Even Trump's CIA and FBI agreed with this assessment.

@windinhishair 👍interesting 🤔
@Montanaman For decades, US immigration law and policy was designed to spit in the eye of Fidel Castro by treating everyone who set foot on Florida as an asylum seeker. This helped earn votes from a swing demographic in a swing state. Immigration policy has long been in need of reform. George W. Bush tried; Congress balked. Obama tried, Congress balked. Biden is trying; Congress is balking.

@ElwoodBlues It has been decades since worthwhile immigration reform by Congress.
@Montanaman Trump still does, unfortunately. The people with the January 6 mindset are still loyal to him, including those still in our government.

And don’t forget, it was the Republicans who voted against keeping weapons away from even those on U.S. terrorist watch lists. So if they’re here, the GOP has armed them.

Not to mention all the industries and businesses (mostly run by Republicans), who meet their "bottom line" using a workforce without the pay or benefits U.S. citizens would require. Would there be as many desperate people crossing the border for work, if they knew they wouldn’t get hired ? There are states who literally depend on that labor. And here’s a hint—many are rural red states. 🙁

@windinhishair what do you consider a guy who's on the left end side of the far right? 🤔 idk. I don't ignore facts, just don't trust where they come from and those generated by the media. I just want democracy to be legit again. 😑

@Montanaman Sounds like right of center to me. But we need more people toward the center and slightly left or right, At the moment we have too many people who are far right and far left, and neither is good for the country in the long run.
