I read his autobiography years ago, he said his transition from liberal to conservative was in the early 70's when he noticed his fellow actors and actresses went to functions for the homeless and needy, then got into their limosines to go to their next functions, while actually ignoring the homeless in the streets panhandling, Rob Reiner being one of the worst.
