Trumpers in the House don't want to solve immigration.

In case you haven't been paying attention, we have a crisis in Congress.

Back in October, President Biden requested $13.6 billion in emergency funding for border protection, including hiring 1,300 additional Border Patrol agents and 1,600 asylum officers and more funds to counter fentanyl smuggling.¹ Congressional Republicans refused his request.

Additionally, immigration judges face caseloads of more than 4,500 apiece, and Congress refuses to fund the increase for the necessary number of judges to clear cases.²

Biden says he would "shut down the border right now" if given the authorities in the proposal.³ MAGA Republicans are still refusing his request.

Republican House Leader Mike Johnson has accused Biden and Democrats of trying "to turn all the illegals into voters. ... That's why the border's open."⁴ This is a bold face lie, but Johnson and fellow Republicans are refusing to legislate impactful immigration reform bills. Leader Johnson threatened to withhold support to Ukraine unless border security was a part of the deal. However, months later, Johnson is actively stopping bills from being heard.

Republican James Lankford of Oklahoma was charged with negotiating a border security bill⁵ with Democrats and the White House and succeeded in moving it forward, only to be stonewalled by Republican House Leader Mike Johnson. Being a sycophant to Trump, Leader Johnson caved when Trump intervened. Apparently, according to their cult leader, Trump, America does not have a problem at the border that needs addressing at this time:

Though he (former President Trump) had long demanded that Congress "change our old, broken, ridiculous, weak immigration laws," the former president now panned the very idea, saying "a border deal now would be another gift to the radical left Democrats."⁶

Johnson now contends that President Biden must use his executive power to close the border. That can not happen, and speaker Johnson knows this. Otherwise, President Trump, during his four years in office, would have made that happen. An executive order would be challenged as it should be in the courts.

Remember when gas was $1.80 a gallion. Under what president was that????? Go ahead look it up.
How much is gas now???? Here in TN we are paying $3.25 a gallon.

Remember when we were drilling our own oil and exporting it. We did not import a single barrell of oil from terrorist nations for 4 whole years under Trump.
How much oil have we imported under Biden??

How are our Oil reserves right now? THE UNITED STATES OIL RESERVES are EMPTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Biden sold ALL of it to CHINA!

@Confined Oil is a world traded commodity.
The current price of oil being traded is approx. $79 per barrel..
If you had any brain you can check the price of oil very easily.
Not long ago, the price of oil was around $60 per barrel and gas here in DFW was under $2 per gallon. Today, its just under $3 per gallon.
Did you give Biden credit when oil was $60?

Tell me this....why has Big Oil been making record profits since Covid?
Did you know that Big Oil set a record for drilling and producing oil?

December 2023:
The United States is set to produce a global record of 13.3 million barrels per day of crude and condensate during the fourth quarter of this year, according to a report published Tuesday by S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Last month, weekly US oil production hit 13.2 million barrels per day, according to the US Energy Information Administration. That’s just above the Donald Trump-era record of 13.1 million set in early 2020 just before the Covid-19 crisis sent output and prices crashing.
That’s been helping to keep a lid on crude and gasoline prices.

US output – led by shale oil drillers in Texas and New Mexico’s Permian Basin – is so strong that it’s sending supplies overseas. America is exporting the same amount of crude oil, refined products and natural gas liquids as Saudi Arabia or Russia produces, S&P said.

@JSul3 If true why is gas not back to $1.50 a gallon??

@JSul3 Yesterday I paid $3.25 a gallon for gas. Please explain how that is possible?
JSul3 · 70-79
@Confined Oil is trading just under $80.
Gasoline here in DFW is $2.85-2.99 per gallon. There has also been the transition from summer blend fuel to winter blend.
Biden nor Trump, or any president controls the price of oil...or gas prices.

@JSul3 When trump was in office I never ever paid more then 1.85 a gallon ever!!!!
Since dementia joe has entered office, I have not paid a penny less then $3.00 a gallon.
Your transition argument is total Bull Shit!!!!

@Confined Blame the corporations for price gouging.
They made record profits during the pandemic and continue to do so.
There is no law against price gouging.
Tell your elected officials to pass a law against price gouging.

@JSul3 During the pandemic people stopped driving. They lost MILLIONS of dollars. What fantasy world are you living in???????????????????????????????

@Confined Oil is sold worldwide fool! Export!
Confined · 56-60, M
@JSul3 We do not need to buy any from over seas, when we have the biggest oil supply in the entire world under our feet. Yet biden is still buying from Venezuela.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@Confined Adjusted for inflation, gas is pretty much what it has been for decades.

The orange traitor boasted that he "purchased 75 million barrels of oil for the national Strategic Petroleum Reserve but did so for a remarkably low price."

U.S. Selling Oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to the Highest Bidding Companies

"Q: Is the Biden administration selling crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to other countries?

A: The oil is sold to eligible companies that make the highest offers. Some of the companies are U.S. subsidiaries of foreign companies, and some that purchased oil have then exported a portion to buyers overseas. Exports increase the global supply and still help with U.S. gas prices, experts told us.

FULL QUESTION
Did Biden sell oil from our Strategic Oil Reserve to China and other countries in 2022?

FULL ANSWER
The Biden administration is trying to increase the global supply of crude oil and reduce gasoline prices by tapping the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve – the federally owned stock of emergency crude oil. About 1 million barrels of crude oil from the reserve are being made available each day for sale to the highest bidding company. Some of the companies have then chosen to export some of the oil to countries around the world, including China.

In a July 5 article, Reuters reported: “More than 5 million barrels of oil that were part of a historic U.S. emergency reserves release to lower domestic fuel prices were exported to Europe and Asia last month, according to data and sources, even as U.S. gasoline and diesel prices hit record highs.”

Refiners around the world use crude oil to make gasoline and other fuels.

The article, which also said that the “export of crude and fuel is blunting the impact” of President Joe Biden’s moves “to lower record pump prices,” has prompted several readers to ask FactCheck.org about the sales.

However, because the price of gasoline depends largely on the cost of crude oil, which is mostly based on global supply and demand, experts told us that oil sold from the reserve does not need to stay in the U.S. to bring down gasoline prices.

“Whether it stays in the United States or goes somewhere else is less important than does it succeed in changing the global balance of supply and demand, because that’s what drives the price,” Mark Finley, a fellow in energy and global oil at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, told us in an interview.

And since Congress lifted a nearly 40-year ban on most U.S. crude oil exports in 2015, the Department of Energy, which maintains the stockpile, cannot dictate whether companies can export oil purchased from the petroleum reserve, the department said in an email.

Even before that expansive ban was lifted, the U.S. had been exporting at least some crude oil and petroleum products to China and other nations for years.
