What was the cause of the American Civil War? Seems to be a difficult question.

It's a difficult question for a limp wristed alleged centrist who is afraid to piss off liberals.
For most of America, the answer is simple:

The pro SLAVERY Democrats threatened to secede from the Union if Abraham Lincoln was elected president, because he was going to free the slaves and outlaw the activity. He was elected, and the Democrats started shooting in South Carolina.

Two sentences. That covers it completely.
And the Democrats have not changed today one iota. They were racists back then and they are racists today.

@Reason10 Lincoln was no abolitionist. His goal was to save tbe Union at all costs.
