Yeah. +45°C heatwaves in Summer when just 20 years ago a "peak heatwave" would've been in the lower 30s, totally a problem that doesn't exist

@Elessar it may exist but may not be caused by humans
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Northerner No, the scientific consensus is that it is caused by human activity. And anyway. whether it's caused by humans or not is absolutely irrelevant, it still needs to be fixed.
Or is your logic «my house is on fire, but maybe it was a lightning and not an arsonist that started it, so since it's probably natural it's all good and I'll let everything burn down»?

@Elessar scientists will agree with anyone that is paying their wages.

@Northerner Tell me you don't know how science works without telling me how science works.
So what's more likely according to you, that the 100% of the scientists of the planet are involved in a big secret conspiracy, or that perhaps - and brace yourself - pulling carbon out of the ground, burning it, and releasing it into the atmosphere does exactly what every physics-for-dummies book that you'll typically read in grade V says will happen?

@Elessar Wake up!!! stop reading what other people tell you for their benefit.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Northerner And in any case you're still fixating on an irrelevant point. I don't care whether it's artificial or not. You yourself just admitted that the problem exists, contradicting what you said in the opening post.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Northerner Follow your own advice, it's not me the one pulliing pre-made cringy memes out of the a$s of oil execs and posting them on SW lmao
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Patriot96 Ice cores. And besides, even the fact that there's no historical record of 45°C from the 1800s to today proves that it's not "just the weather", buddy. A man of your age should know better, than sounding like some edgy 12 years old who hasn't figures out yet how the world works, because their favourite celebrity running in politics told you what to believe.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@Elessar Hell, we are getting heat waves in the Canadian arctic.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow chicago is on samr latitude as rome. They had a relatively mild summer.
Just for perspective, South Dakota, further north than chicago, in 1930s experiences 130F temps.
Its called weather

@Patriot96 I'm a licensed fisherman. So? Are we enumerating irrelevant things?
Another thing that will probably blow up your mind, is that piloting an aircraft doesn't make you an expert on climate; just like picking up a fish with a rod doesn't make you a marine biologist. Other things that should've been learned in school

@Patriot96 You yourself came here arguing that data before the 1800s cannot be trusted. Now you speak to me about the 1200s? The data we have absolutely say that the current temperatures are unprecedented. By enforcing your own rule (i.e. discarding altogether anything <1800) even more so. You're also confusing single day outliers with growth patterns spanning over decades.
