Excellent arguments as to why we should condemn Israeli actions in Gaza

in a hostile media environment. James Schneider is excellent.

Condemn away, but the best case to be made is for Israel and the IDF to wipe Hamas off the face of the earth.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RedBaron How many children are worthwhile collateral damage to achieve that?
Uniquelyme · 31-35, M
@Burnley123 Israel does not want to harm any women or children and are going to do the best they can to free them and kill Hamas
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 As few as possible, as long as they heed Israeli warnings to leave.

But one has to wonder why Hamas didn’t bother to ask the same question.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Uniquelyme They do and will kill tens of thousands of women and children.
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 But what Hamas did was OK with you?

Jewish lives matter!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RedBaron You haven't even watched the video. They person I am signalling is himself Jewish and addresses these points directly.
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 I watched it.

First of all, his name is SCHNEIDER.

Second, I agree with what he said about things Israel has done to Palestinians. Nothing justifies any of that.

But by the same token, nothing justifies the antisemitic terrorist acts of Hamas. They need to be destroyed in order to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.

It certainly is best if that can be accomplished without harm to Palestinian people, but NOTHING should stand in the way of Israel taking care of business here.

That’s really all there is to it.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RedBaron NOTHING?

Mean how many Palestinian lives? Fifty thousand or a hundred thousand? Does the IDF not fit the definition of terrorist?
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 What do you suggest? Or are you just here to criticize and second-guess?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RedBaron I suggest you watch he video and engage with the arguments made.
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 As I said, I watched it.

And again, what do you suggest? Or are you just here to criticize and second-guess?
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 Apparently, you have no response as you’re only here criticize and second-guess.

But here’s the bottom line: This was the most murderous attack on Jews since the Holocaust, and it showed the true face of Palestinians and their allies.

All around the world, they celebrate. They gloat. They mock Jews and our sorrow. They don’t condemn or protest against Hamas. They embrace pure evil.

Unlike their enemies, you can be certain that Israel feels no joy at the prospect of war.

But if our people’s existence is at stake, they will, in righteous might, do what they must.

They will and have every right to be the world’s favorite villain: the Jew who has the audacity to defend his people.

The onus needs to be put on the evil people who committed these atrocities, not on Jews and Israelis to justify our actions and very existence.

Again, that’s really all there is to it.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RedBaron Tell yourself that the people you are about to bomb are evil. You still haven't responded to any of the the arguments in the video.
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 I disagree with enough of it to know what Israel needs to do, and I stated my opinion.

You haven’t responded to my points.

I owe you no further explanation.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RedBaron Schneider himself is Jewish. If you equate criticism of Israeli policy with anti-Semitism (which seems to be implied in your post) then I just can't see us as agreeing.

Israel does have the right to defend itself. This is no defense: It's indiscriminate killing on a grand scale and motivated by vengeance. It's collective punishment, which is a war crime. It's always been the case that a lot more Palestinians die than Israelis and it will certainly be the same here, in spades

Like Schneider, I condemn the killing of civilians. It would be nice for you to do the same.
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 Good for him.

Wake me up when the rest of the world stops celebrating the murder of Jews and condemns Hamas.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RedBaron Whilst it's a tragedy that some people hold all Israeli people collectively responsible for the IDF, it's likewise a tragedy to blame all Palestinians responsible for Hamas.

I think that hundreds of thousands of people are about to die.
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 Unfortunately, war can have unwanted consequences. But Hamas has instigated a war.
RedBaron · M
@Burnley123 This pretty well sums it up.

@RedBaron It conflates support for Palestine with anti-Semitism in a million crude ways. At one point it even says critics want a 'second holocaust.'

This is a bad faith argument and I'm done here.
