The more likely coincidence is that the attack began on Putin's birthday, and Russia (with and via Iran) is a (not-so) covert supplier of Hamas et al.
The Russian view generally seems to be that the West cannot cope with two war-type situations at once, and therefore we 'cannot' now focus both on Ukraine and Israel. Fortunately 'the West' isn't a monolithic monstrosity run by a paranoid anally-retentive control freak, so we can focus on more than one thing at a time. Which doesn't seem to be the Russian president's forte...
Besides which, Israel and Saudi Arabia were on the cusp of finalising various diplomatic accords which would in practice see Hamas ultimately bankrupted anyway, so as far as those who vow to wipe Israel from the map were concerned, it was now or never.
I've got a feeling they shall shortly wish it had been never. I wish anyone but Netanyahu were Israeli PM but if decides the burning remains Hamas should be driven into the sea to drown I'll be right behind him.
