I love the details in the cancellation of HS2.

It's too expensive so we're going to spend the money on other projects.

We're investing in infrastructure in the North, like the A2. Last time I drove on it, it was in Kent.

Re-open the Leamside railway line in NE. Cancelled next day.

Extend Nottingham tram system to Clifton. Line opened in 2015.

It's not funny really. Anyone who still trusts the tories on "levelling up" or still thinks that they are the party of the "working man" must be a bit weak in the head.

Sadly, there is lacking at the moment any truly radical alternative. Everyone scared of "rocking the boat".

@Entwistle I am a fan of trains, but it baffles me how the rest of Europe can build high speed rail networks with little fuss and much less cost than HS2. A saving of 30 minutes on a journey from Manchester to London really isn't that much of an improvement. What would be good are more trains, that run on time at cheaper prices.

@Picklebobble2 I suspect that the re-invested money for other schemes will either disappear, or it will be creative accounting for already funded projects.
