There is ideology, hegemony and passive consent in liberal democracies. The dominant class has power.
In a dictatorship, all of that also applies and they also have direct dominant control over the state.
For sure, liberal democracies are extremely proficient at producing cranks who support the most reactionary faction of capitalism because they've bought into conspiracy theories and think that they are edgy.
