An epic blunder. Gold for Russian propaganda. Very embarrassing for Canadian Parliament and Canada itself. Didn't they realize if this guy was fighting the Russians in WWII, our ally at the time, he was fighting with Germany?

@JimboSaturn exactly, this is huge for Russian propaganda and anyone who digests it regularly (dippyjoe) since they were saying how they need to denazify Ukraine. All bc the Parliament couldn't Google their stuff before giving out ovations

@deadgerbil They do a background check about criminal records etc.. but not any deeper than that. Apparently there are not a lot of visitors invited to the commons, so it wouldn't actually be difficult to do. I suspect things will change now.

@deadgerbil Oh ya, all the Russian bots and SW fascist are going to have a field day unfortunately.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@JimboSaturn exactly. This wasn't some backyard BBQ. I wonder what their excuse is

@deadgerbil Canada is not known for it's robust security lol. Remember an intruder actually got into Chretien's house and once Chretien actually got a guy in a headlock who attacked him?

Canada is not known for it's robust security lol
Well, we haven't had a head of state assassinated yet .... eh?
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Gorps True. But we don't kill our politicians like other countries fortunately.
Gorps · 51-55, M
@JimboSaturn Yes maybe I should have said 'politicial leader', not 'head of state'. Forgot for a moment that we're fortunate ( :) ?) enough not to have them combined in a single person.
