@Subsumedpat No. The Republicans will be roundly blamed because they're the ones threatening to actively shut down the government.

There are not two sides to every story. Some carry their own objective facts.

You should take a look at the tally for 35 days of shutdown in 2018, also a gift from teh Republicans. If we go through that again, it will be for the juvenile and dangerous one-up game on the part of the Republicans. They're bring unrealistic demands, yet punish the ones who refuse to agree with them. They think they're the bully gang out in the schoolyard, but they have no idea they're just arrogant kids to a world of adults.

@Subsumedpat Republicans and Republican-leaning independents are still far more likely than Democrats and Democratic leaners (71% vs. 44%) to view cutting the deficit as a leading priority (pew research).

Compared to Democratic presidents, Republicans are estimated to add between 0.75% and 1.2% more to the deficit (as a percent of GDP) each year they are in office. This result controls for economic conditions, and explains 75% of the variation in the annual changes to deficits towardsdatascience.com).

Republicans spend it indirectly on programs that “are biased towards workers who are White, full-time, in large companies, and high-wage earners" (mother jones ).

A study from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that Democratic presidents since World War II have performed much better than Republicans. On average, Democratic presidents grew the economy by 4.4% each year versus 2.5% for Republicans.

A study by Princeton University economists Alan Blinder and Mark Watson found that the economy performs better when the president is a Democrat. They report that “by many measures, the performance gap is startlingly large.” Between Truman and Obama, growth was 1.8% higher under Democrats than Republicans.
