Did Mitch McConnell stroke out?

No, not likely. A full stroke, absolutely not. A TIA (mini-stroke)? Also highly unlikely. Stroke victims don’t regain full awareness in 20 seconds. They are unable to grip podiums and maintain balance.

A growing consensus among doctors is seizures. Related to either childhood polio or resulting from more recent falls. In a focal seizure, the eyes divert to the side and the person, though physically steady, appears to ‘disappear” for seconds or minutes. McConnell’s eyes divert to the right, indicating a lesion or problem on the left side of his brain.

Seizures render no one incapable of holding a position like McConnell’s, but it could be speculated that advancing age might worsen conditions.
