Why would anyone use cotton plants as decor since we know the cruelties of slavery when cotton was picked?

And what's with these Plantation style weddings? Why doesn't anyone have any weddings at abandoned insane asylums?

If it's not gotten using slavery then it should be okay. Surely there are ethical, modern ways to get cotton
