You can only vote on one answer.

Yes, that person on the left had nearly been picked to the vice presidential nominee and would have almost certainly would have been his party'spresidential nominee eight years later.

Other questions:

Who does Donald Rumsfeld pick to be his running mate? Would it still be Dan Quayle? Remember, Michael Dukakis picked Lloyd Bensten before Vice President Bush named Dan Quayle to be on the ticket with him. So, the Democratic ticket doesn't change.

Here's a thought who Rumsfeld might have picked. Someone who he worked with during the Ford administration:

Can you imagine Pence selecting a VP choice? If it was a woman she'd need to be someone Mother knows is unfuckable like Sarah Huckabee and if it was a dude it would have to be a man who would look like he'd happily blow Mike Pence.

Let that sink in.

I think an incumbent President Pence after a first Trump impeachment would have nominated a pragmatic choice under the 25th Amendment. The bombast of the Trump presidency would have been over and it would have been back to Republican normalcy.

Likely someone NOT loyal to Trump, but someone of the "old guard."

A safe choice that would not hurt Pence when he would run in 2020 for a full four-year term.

Pence and Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona were good friends until Trump started attacking John McCain. Flake decided to not attend the 2016 GOP convention. Pence was then named to be on the ticket and Flake re-considered but stayed away, which hurt their friendship. Perhaps nominating Flake to be vice president repairs that friendship. It would also anger the Trumpets but I don't think after Trump being removed from office that would be a concern to Pence.
