The EC is comprised of people appointed by the states to represent the will of that state's people. Governments are involved, but not in control. The people are.

@BrakeIT: Not always. Some cases a candidate gets the vote. Its overruled. The EC was created lest the sheep be too stupid to elect the right person

@LesDeplorable: yes, and the press being wrong was the best part of the election. it served as proof that the people are more powerful than the press' ability to create the news.
