Like the members of Congress who got business loans for much more forgiven?

How about bailing out the BANKING industry?
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy I agree. Let's eliminate as many bailouts as possible by making the government as small as possible!!!

We can start with SVB.
@irishmolly72 THOSE are FDIC bailouts paid for by insurance collected from members.

Very different from the big bailouts.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy Not really that different. The FDIC is set up by the federal government, just like the FED itself. SVB was all Biden and Yellen. It was a Federal bailout just like TARP.
@irishmolly72

FDIC is *insurance*, premiums paid by member banks.

No impact on budget.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy But the Feds strong-armed the FDIC to bail out everything including the amounts beyond the FDIC insurance limit. Clearly a moral hazard problem created by Biden's socialist policies.
@irishmolly72 If you are against socialism, and you want smaller government, please opt out of both Social Security and Medicare.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy Ok. Just give me back the money I was forced to put in.

My private retirement savings are dramatically higher anyway since I invested wisely.
@irishmolly72 You didn't pay into an account for you. Your payroll taxes paid for then-current participants.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy That's called a Ponzi Scheme. The government should get out of this criminal enterprise.
@irishmolly72 I've said it seems like a gov't-authorized Ponzi scheme.

So are you going to put your money where your mouth is and opt out of both Social Security and Medicare?
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy
So are you going to put your money where your mouth is and opt out of both Social Security and Medicare?
How can I? My money has already been extorted from me.

@irishmolly72 Anyone can opt out of both.

The money wasn't taken to pay for you.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy
The money wasn't taken to pay for you.
That's true of every occurance of extortion.
@irishmolly72 So if you want to stop the "extortion" you opt out of the benefits which cause it, ok?
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SomeMichGuy ok, once I'm made whole.

@SomeMichGuy Why should I take action contrary to my own interests in the trap of the US extortion rackets caled SS and Medicare? Uncle Sam has us by the balls and everyone knows it.

If I am made whole I would gladly do as you say in a heartbeat.
