What a fabulous day 馃檪馃檪馃檪 I have no problem with people paying their own bills. If you don't want to pay the bill then don't go or at least consider a community college. The cost there is far more affordable. That's where I went and I am not embarrassed to admit it. I worked and paid cash as I went. I never had a bill.

@Musicman So your education ended at community college. Which is an extension of high school. And in a lot of places it's entirely free. You have to buy books. You don't have to be embarrassed about it in any way. All education is important. It makes us all better. But you do need to know it's a self-imposed ceiling. Believe or not some professions require MUCH more education than you received. But you nailed what's at the core. You look at it through YOUR lens. Not the lens of those who were victims of predatory lending. Or wanting to do something with their lives where a lot of education comes with the territory. I'll never, ever understand that way of thinking. It's wanting others to do worse or suffer. Why would anyone want that?

@Ynotisay Thank you very much. I also kicked most of their asses too. I retired at 53 and they are still working. Now I throughly enjoy life.

@Musicman There you go bud. It's all about you. What an awesome human being. Bet you throw a flag up this weekend and beat your chest about what a great patriot you are, right? Whatever dude.

@Ynotisay Actually I have never flown a flag. My dad did though. About five years before he passed he had a flag pole installed and flew one daily. He was a Army Korean war combat veteran.

I never said education wasn't good. All I said was don't get the most expensive one you can find because you will be paying for it for years. No, I don't think the tax payers should have to pay for everyone's college degree. What about the kids who don't want to go to college. Are you going to pay for their vocational training?
YnotisayM
@Musicman Fair enough. But if you'd been following this issue, and the even bigger one regarding a proposal for "free" secondary education, you'd know that vocational schools were included. And that runs from cosmetology to swinging a hammer.
But what happened is that conservatives sold this as being the bastion of the "liberal elite." And that's SO not what it's about. Just another example of how so many are so quick to kiss the hand that beats them and why so many fight against what's in their own best interest. Because they're told to.
