Imagine if schools cut out all the useless electives a student is forced to take in order to get a degree. That would be an excellent step in the right direction to reducing costs of overpriced education.

@stratosranger Finally!!! Someone is talking about cutting costs!
@irishmolly72 Thanks for the BC
@stratosranger nobody needs education to have a job, and foreign skilled workers are preferred, anyway.

@Roundandroundwego being able to regurgitate stuff from books or professors doesnt make you smart
@Patriot96 it only shows that you learned something. It's something we disdain - knowing stuff from books.

@stratosranger This is worth a look:

@Roundandroundwego anything you can learn in college you can learn by reading a book
@Patriot96 no, groups learn different things that you don't need to be an American. College definitely made me more knowledgeable, because of the groups. That's been studied,- you definitely don't need a liberal education like I got to be stupid and a great worker. You can keep telling people that lie - about the books. Americans should avoid education and just do as we tell you.

@stratosranger Useless electives? Useless to who? This country is about freedom of choice.
JSul3 · 70-79
@Patriot96 Not if the MAGA keep banning them.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@sree251 Useless to the students who are forced to undergo that indoctrination to graduate.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@irishmolly72 I think the problem with unpaid student loans is jobless graduates who can't earn their way to pay for their own education. I wonder is there are any research stats on unpaid student loans and the type of degree programs those loans paid for.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@sree251 There are plenty of stats, and they all point out the obvious - you have to study material that will enable you to make an economic contribution to society.

I know people who have double majored in order to study one field they're passionate about and another that will help them get a job. Sometimes the two fields are related, such as economics and history. This strategy seems to work well.

Unemployment is extremely low right now, so if a graduate is jobless today then that suggests a serious problem with the student's skill/ talent level or their job search strategy.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@irishmolly72 Unemployment may be low but graduates with unpaid loans could be flipping burgers or filling jobs for high school grads just to make ends meet. The jobless graduate with unpaid loans is likely to be a loser to begin with. Government programs to assist losers are cooked up by Congress. Those in Congress who voted for the programs must pick up the tab.

That's easy to do when you can print money via the Federal Reserve. The federal debt is now approaching $33 Trillion. Think we going to pay any of that back? This is a racket.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@irishmolly72 I meant to say that the Congressmen are personally responsible. You are right. They are our representatives and we are the ones holding the bag for their silly policies.
