@Vin53 actually that would be Fauci that did all those things to get the potato elected, gain of function ring a bell?

@Prison1203 All through Trump's term, our Covid per capita death rate was DOUBLE that of countries like Canada & Germany, resulting in about 550,000 Covid deaths under Trump.

If Trump had handled Covid as well as, say, Justin Trudeau, we'd have had 275,000 FEWER DEATHS! Put another way, Trump's mis-management of Covid cost more deaths than THREE Viet Nam wars!! Three Viet Nams in a SINGLE YEAR, not spread out over ten years like the actual war!!!

Sure, Covid came from outside. And different leaders in different countries managed it differently. Trump's piss-poor Covid management is made clear by the relative per capita death rates.
"I look at it this way," Birx told CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta. "The first time, we have an excuse. There were about 100,000 deaths that came from that original surge. All of the rest of them, in my mind, could have been mitigated or decreased substantially."
@ElwoodBlues I’m guessing that you and your little friends forgot all the negative attention he got also, like he’s xenophobic, he is racist, he can’t ban people from traveling, and so on and so forth, and he was relying on his so called expert in virology and contagious diseases, you know Dr. Fuckface that spread the virus initially from his gain of function lab in wuhan the little fucker knew it was coming because he developed it and unleashed it , and this is from HuffPost. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the U.S. government’s top infectious disease specialist, warned in early 2017 that a “surprise outbreak” would occur during the Trump administration, and he said that more needed to be done to prepare for a pandemic.
“There is no question that there will be a challenge to the coming administration in the arena of infectious diseases,” he said in a speech titled “Pandemic Preparedness in the Next Administration” at Georgetown University Medical Center. He delivered it just days before Trump was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2017.

@Prison1203 You are trying to blame the weatherman for the blizzard you got caught in.

Unexpected infectious disease outbreaks had been occurring every few years. Ever hear of SARS? Ever hear of MERS? Ever hear of Marburg virus? Ever hear of Ebola?

The likelihood of a new dangerous infectious disease outbreak was why Obama created the cabinet level position of office for global pandemics. Fauci was underlining how important that position was. Oh, and who eliminated that cabinet level position? None other than Donald Trump.

"Gain of function" is a way of testing for bad outcomes. Like when tire manufacturers create harsh conditions in the lab to test for blowouts. They're not trying to make more dangerous blowouts, they're trying to prevent them.

Similarly, how do you know if a virus can get more virulent? Did you know that when a person has two simultaneous viral infections, the viruses can exchange genetic material and functions? It's a very accelerated form of evolution that can occur. That's what gain of function research is defending against.

BTW, if Fauci was such a threat to humanity, why didn't Trump ever fire him? Why didn't Trump ever fire anyone in the CDC? Sorry, your conspiracy theories don't hold up to examination.

@Prison1203 Are you saying that Trump isn't a xenophobe and a racist? That almost came out as if this was some kind of slander to apply those words to Donald. If you want, we can watch some of his speeches together, where he talks about immigrants (mainly from non-white countries btw, because the scandinavians are cool apperently) roaming the streets at night, raping your kids and stuff. Not to mention, that he often brings up a poem called "the snake", where he represents immigrants as inherently predatorial... you know, as if it's in their nature. Which is quite the xenophobic claim. He also pampered to xenophobia inside the nation during the Obama years, when he claimed that the first black guy in the white house was actually not American but a guy from Kenia. This would never have happened with a white guy, ever... but the first black guy and doubt was sawn about his herritage and citizenship.

Also... Fauci was director of NIAID, it's his job to warn administrations for the consequences of an outbreak. He also warned Trump because the last one, the Zika outbreak (2015-2016) caused issues for the last administration. And he pushed for a sense of urgency, so that the country doesn't have to go through the same issues that they met in the last outbreak. Being pre-emptive, is actually a pretty good thing, considering his function. It's almost as if you don't want him to do his job... connecting this to some conspiratorial ploy is pretty bizar.

I also hope you are consistent with your job creation remarks... because a bunch of jobs created in the Trump years were jobs that came back after years of deep economic crisis. That's also why I think it's kinda dumb too pretend that presidents have a deep impact on job creation since these things are more linked to economic cycles then too the presidency. Not to mention, that economic measures voted in by an administration, ussually only show real effects years later. This idea that Presidents just magically create jobs, is kinda dumb... just like Vins' mainpost doesn't really add much imo.
