It's insane that in the united states laws are able to be enacted that impact the livelihoods of citizens in entire states without even

having to give us data justifying the law that is being proposed showing how public policy can be utilized to ameliorate the problem and the existance of this problem as well.

in the case of Parental notifiaion an assumption is made about Teenage girls that was never actually tested against reality that because they are so secretive that they would not tell their parents if they got knocked up.

It was simply assumed by the pro crowd.

We were never given data showing teenagers tended ot hide these types of facts from parents, we were only told the merits of having a parent involved.

Data so far form what i've seen tends to support what I suspected all along, which is that Teenagers usually do naturally tell their parents when they get knocked up.

Which makes it troubling that the state is mandating that parents be told when their child is seeking an abortion because it's a blanket public policy impacting the lives of people in entire states and not all parents are "Good parents." who are loving and supportive.

And so far as helena's book has shown with the bypass the judges have been given too much leyway and have made a mockey of the bypass process.

But what I find so stunning about all of this is that the people who put this law into place had NO data. They did not have to meet any burden of proof to push such policy into place in the first place and that just it's unjust on the grounds that it impacts entire states and the lives of people living in them, at the very least if you're going to enact public policy that impacts a wide population of people you should at least have to bring data to the discussion that support your stance. This was not done in the case of parental notifiaion laws at any point. They were allowed and succceed in getting laws on the books without any data actually supporting those laws.

all they really had amounted to this:
