How about Mexico. Yes, this is a very dangerous country. It is even more dangerous than it was 20 years ago.
Why ? Because the underground cartel has taken over the government. Money is power. Power earns respect.

Mexico is more violent than 20 years ago. The US, between 1960 and 1990, quadrupled the rate of violent crime. Each nation goes through their growing pains. And while some urban areas carry travel advisories with them, the areas generally frequented by US tourists in low and stable, on par with any tourist destination city. You think I'd let an innocent Bulgarian oe El Salvadorian alone in Times Square or two blocks of skid row?

Holding mirrors is easy; looking into them proves harder.
