So none of this would have happened without the second amendment?
@kodiac not none of it, but a whole lot less of it, yes. All it takes to confirm this is one look at literally any other country.

@NerdyPotato I think it's a society problem not a gun problem.

@kodiac The Second Amendment, as currently interpreted by the Supreme Court, has resulted in large numbers of weapons specifically designed for quick and efficient mass murder to be readily available for anyone who wants one. That's a recipe for disaster, and we are reaping the results.
@kodiac what society problem would that be that's unique to the USA? And when is the GOP going to pass laws to address that? The LGBTQ+ community has members across the globe and isn't causing mass shootings anywhere else, so that's not it.

@windinhishair Guns capable of firing multiple rounds have been around forever ,for years it was legal to own a machine gun ,tommy gun is an example but mass shootings didn't happen .Those guns were outlawed yet mass killings started to happen .Obviously it's a people problem not a gun problem
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@kodiac It is definitely a societal problem. But there is no doubt that more guns cause more gun deaths. The states with the highest numbers of guns have the most deaths by guns. Even if you take a state like Illinois, which has a problem with urban gun deaths in Chicago, that is true. Illinois has the 27th highest rate of gun deaths, including the Chicago gun deaths.

@kodiac Weapons of mass murder are far more readily available now than in the past. It is a societal problem, and a gun problem.

@NerdyPotato The liberal policies that eliminate punishment or targeting people on the fringe who are constantly on law enforcement radar but can't be profiled . Creating a society with no consequences for many criminals .The u s leads the world in lunatic liberals

@kodiac but when criminals are indicted, the GOP calls it a witch hunt and pardons half the convicted ones.

@FoothillsPatriot Please show your proof.

@kodiac Please provide evidence of your claim.

@FoothillsPatriot ah, another baseless assumption that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. If you don't have any proof for your claims, just say so instead of changing the topic and getting personal.

@FoothillsPatriot do you even believe yourself at this point? 🙄 Where is the proof of your claims on the topic at hand?

@NerdyPotato The poster in question is taking a time out. You'll have to wait to engage him on the next thread.

@NerdyPotato Speaking of being off topic why did you bring lgbtq into it?
kodiac · 22-25, M
@windinhishair Releasing criminals with no bail is a good example.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@kodiac That shouldn't happen with violent crimes. I don't think it is very common.
@kodiac just in anticipation of what any GOP supporter would probably say. After all, that's been the main focus of the GOP lately and one recent shooting was committed by a trans guy. Knowing him, he'd point to that as the problem and affirm the GOP is in fact pushing down on it really hard. (Which they are, just for no reason whatsoever.)

Anyway, what society problem that's unique to the USA would be the cause and when is the GOP going to propose a solution for that?
