Person wants to kill other people. Person then thinks how to do that and realizes there are tools easily available that were designed for exactly this purpose. With these tools (guns) they can archieve their goal in a short period of time. Only an impulse is needed since it is easy to pull a trigger with little actual violence involved.

@chrisCA people with bombs kill people, people with poison, knives, cars, ROCKS... Etc. ETC.

@Snuffy1957 Then we should make it difficult to access ideal material for bomb buildings.
Also people with knives are easier disarmed and might only cause bad injuries before stopped.
Poison needs to be prepared while guns only need for someone to have a bad day.

Try disarming someone with a knife that knows how to use it...
